KNRUHS BSc Nursing Admissions Over 2000 Seats Remain Vacant

New Delhi: Despite the Telangana government's authorisation for admission to B.Sc Nursing programs at KNRUHS to be based on NEET or EAMCET scores, approximately 2,000 out of 6,500 seats have remained unfilled for two weeks.

To address this issue, the government intervened and issued guidelines on February 24, 2024, instructing KNRUHS to fill the vacancies based on merit or NEET/EAMCET scores. Before this, students from KNRUHS had advocated for relaxation in admission criteria, mainly as around 2,000 seats were vacant in the management category.

Students communicated to Deccan Chronicle that discrepancies in admission criteria between the convenor and management categories and confusion regarding NEET/EAMCET requirements have contributed to the problem.

While the Indian Nursing Council eased rules allowing admission without NEET/EAMCET qualifications, KNR University maintained NEET for the management quota and EAMCET for the convenor category.

This disparity in admission rules has resulted in a lack of awareness among students, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds, leaving many seats vacant. Urgent pleas have been directed to the university's Vice-Chancellor and Registrar to promptly address this issue, ensuring equitable access to education for all students.

Moreover, the persistence of vacant seats has raised concerns among students who may face a year's delay due to administrative inefficiencies at the university.
