The final examinations for the MBBS students which were scheduled to be held in January 2021 have been postponed to February and March 2021.
As per sources, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences will conduct exams for the first-year students from February 8, 2021, while the exams for the second and third-year students will be conducted from March 2 and 23, 2021, respectively.
Previously, Medical students protested by organizing Twitter campaigns demanding for the annual exams to be held in January 2021 to be postponed. The medical students raised the concern that there wasn’t sufficient time for preparing for the exams along with ineffective online classes and a lack of practical exposure.

According to reports, around 25,000 medical students participated in the Twitter campaign after which a delegation of AIDSO Karnataka met with the Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to submit a memorandum demanding the postponement of the examinations.
While speaking about the postponement of the examination Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor Dr S Sacchidanand informed that the postponement of the exams will be based on the guidelines provided by the National Medical Commission.
Following which, he pointed out that not all the students were against the exams in January and the delay in the examinations will have an effect on the academic calendar.
Dr S Sacchidanand told that there is a division between batches and exams have been conducted for the odd batches because interns are required to join as soon as possible. Students from the odd batches are those who have back papers.
