Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has opened applications for PhD admissions for the 2025-26 academic session (Phase II, Winter Semester).

Candidates who have qualified for UGC-CSIR NET, JRF, or GATE can apply online until December 3, 2025. Corrections to applications can be made on December 4 and 5, 2025.

The process is entirely online, and candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria and pay the application fee as per their category.

The application fee for JNU PhD admissions is based on the candidate’s category. General/OBC candidates pay ₹500SC/ST/PwD candidates and ₹ 250, and JRF/GATE candidates pay ₹500

JNU PhD 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have a valid UGC-CSIR NET (all categories), JRF (UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT/NBHM), or GATE score in the relevant subject/discipline.

NET percentile from December 2024 onwards will be considered.

Candidates must have completed a Master’s degree in the relevant field with the minimum required marks as per university norms. Foreign nationals and NRI candidates have separate eligibility and application procedures.

Fee The semester fee for PhD programmes at JNU for 2025-26 is as follows: General/OBC: ₹5,000 per semester/ST/PwD: ₹2,500 per semester
