JNU has released the second merit list for PhD admissions for the 2024-25 academic session based on NET, JRF, and GATE scores. The final merit list is tentatively scheduled for release on January 24, 2025.
JNU has published the second merit list for Ph.D. admissions for the 2024-25 academic session, based on NET, JRF, and GATE scores. The physical verification for admission and registration of selected candidates is scheduled from January 13 to January 16, 2025.

JNU PhD Admission 2025: Documents Required
At the Time of Viva-Voce Examination
- Two testimonials (one from a former teacher).
- List of subjects/papers for degrees mentioned in the application.
- At least one published paper (if applicable).
- Brief note on research interests and goals.
- Research proposal.
- Self-attested scorecard for NET (UGC/CSIR/GATE).
- JRF certificate (if applying under the JRF category).
- Statement of Purpose (SoP) for foreign nationals.
At the Time of Admission/Registration
- Enrolment Form and Central Library Application Form.
- Five recent passport-size photographs.
- Self-attested copies of educational certificates (10th, 12th, Bachelor’s, Master’s).
- Character Certificate from the last attended institution.
- Mark sheets and degree certificates for all qualifications.
- Category-specific certificates for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS candidates.
- Migration certificate (original) from the last institution attended.
Additional Requirements
- Discontinuation certificate (if pursuing another course).
- Leave Sanction/Relieving Order for employed candidates.
- Internet mark sheets must be verified by the issuing authority.
- Foreign university graduates need equivalency verification.
- Online payment of fees (Ph.D.: ₹325; Ph.D. in Engineering: ₹20,545).
- All documents to be uploaded on the pre-enrolment portal.
Migration certificates must be provided by January 31, 2024, if unavailable during admission. Final mark sheets must be authenticated by the issuing institution. Admission is subject to verification of all documents.
