Jadavpur University to Conduct Independent Btech Counselling for 150+ Vacant Seats Based on WBJEE Scores; Apply Before October 7

Jadavpur University (JU) has announced an independent counselling session to fill more than 150 vacant BTech seats remaining after WBJEE 2025 admissions.

The process will take place from October 13 to 15 and is aimed to give admissions to students with JEE ranks up to 10,000. Candidates interested in applying can submit their applications online from September 25 until October 7.

The university has emphasised that only physically present candidates will be allowed to participate, and seats will be allotted based on merit and availability.

Why Jadavpur University is Holding Independent Counselling?

After WBJEE 2025 counselling, over 150 of the 1,308 BTech seats at Jadavpur University remain vacant in popular streams like Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, which traditionally attract top-ranking students, have seen a decline in interest this year.

This trend has led to the university's decision to conduct an independent counselling session to ensure these seats are filled and provides another chance for aspirants with relatively lower JEE ranks to secure admission.

Currently, around 17 seats in Electrical Engineering and 11 seats in Electronics Engineering are available. Students with JEE ranks up to 10,000 will be considered for this round, expanding eligibility beyond the centralised WBJEE counselling, where only top 3,500 ranks were admitted.

Moreover, due to heavy rainfall and extensive waterlogging across Kolkata, JU has suspended some academic functions, including PhD admission interviews and departmental meetings. Students planning to attend the counselling are advised to check updates from the Jadavpur University website regarding any disruptions caused by weather conditions.

Aspirants should complete the online registration quickly and prepare the necessary documents, including JEE Main scorecards, identity proof, and other relevant certificates, for verification during the physical counselling session. This independent round provides a final opportunity for students to secure admission in JU’s BTech programs for 2025.
