IIT Roorkee Begins PhD Admissions 2025-26; Apply by October 31

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR), invites applications for its PhD programs for the Spring Semester of the academic year 2025-26. IIT Roorkee offers doctoral programs in a variety of departments, institutes, and schools across engineering, sciences, architecture, humanities, management, and more. Candidates can apply online by October 31, 2025 and classes will start from January 12, 2026.

• Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with the minimum required qualifying marks (the qualifying marks will depend on the department).
• Candidates with Bachelor’s degrees (for example, B.Tech from IITs with a high CGPA) will also be considered exceptional candidates and may become eligible.
• Final-year postgraduate students can also apply, however, they are required to submit proof of qualification when registering for the position.
• Department-specific requirements (GATE/NET/JRF) may apply depending on the area of research.
• Sponsored, Part-Time, or External categories are also available.

IIT Roorkee PhD Application Process 2025-26

• Visit the official IIT Roorkee admission portal.
• Complete the online application form with accurate academic and personal details.
• Pay the application fee (General/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL- Rs. 500 and SC/ST/PwD Roorkee Rs. 250) and download a copy for future reference.
• No physical copies of the application are required.

• Candidates are selected on the basis of academic performance, written tests and/or interviews according to the requirements of the individual departments.
• Shortlisted candidates will receive communications from the department.
• Final selection is by the Departmental Research Committee.
