Applicants can apply under Regular (with or without assistantship, JRF fellow/ TA/ project staff), Sponsored (Full-Time, sponsored by industry), and Employed (Part-Time/ for working professionals) categories, each with its own eligibility and benefits.

IIT Patna PhD Admissions 2026 Application Process

• Candidates must pay the application fee online via SBI Collect (General/OBC/EWS: Rs 1,000, SC/ST/PwD/Women/Transgender: Rs 500)
• Fill the online application form by uploading SBI payment e-receipt along with all the required documents
• Candidates must carry physical copies of original documents to the test/interview (mark sheets, certificates, GATE/NET score, NOC (if required), caste certificate (if required)) along with application.
• Shortlisting based on academic records, scores from GATE/NET, and category
• Not all applicants who meet the requirement will be called as final selection is based on a written test and/or interview (depending on department).
