IIT Madras has introduced a groundbreaking online Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aeronautics and Space Technology. This initiative by the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) aims to democratize high-quality aerospace education. Designed to align with India’s growing focus on UAVs, satellite manufacturing, and civil aviation, the program offers a flexible learning path for students and working professionals alike.
Graduates will be equipped with skills in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Methods (FEM), and Aircraft Design, making them industry-ready for roles in Aerospace, Defence, and Energy sectors. BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology (4-year degree with multiple exit options: Foundation, Diploma, and BSc).

Online BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology 2026 Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Open to Class 12 (Higher Secondary) pass-outs or equivalent.
- Subjects: Must have studied Mathematics and Physics at the Class 12 level.
- Diploma Holders: Candidates holding a 3-year Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board are also eligible.
- No Age Limit: The program is open to learners of all ages.
- No JEE Mandatory: Admission does not require a JEE score; however, JEE Advanced qualified candidates may get direct entry into the qualifier process.
Online BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology 2026 Selection Process
The selection follows a unique Qualifier Process:
- Registration: Apply online and pay the fee.
- Coursework: Complete 4 weeks of online content and assignments provided by IIT Madras.
- Qualifier Exam: Appear for an in-person proctored exam conducted at designated centers.
- Admission: Only those who score above the minimum required cutoff in the qualifier exam are formally admitted to the Foundation Level.
