IIT Madras will accept admissions for foundation-level BS programs at regular entry and JEE-based entry for both the January and May sessions of 2025. Read the article for more details.
IIT Madras has started admissions for foundation-level BS in Data Science & Applications and BS in Electronic Systems programs for the academic session of 2025. The applications for the January 2025 session are closed, but the applications for the May 2025 session will close on May 20, 2025.
The Qualifier Exam will be held on February 23 and July 13, 2025, for the January 2025 and May 2025 sessions respectively.

IIT Madras BS Admission 2025 Eligibility Criteria
- Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent irrespective of age or academic background. Those who qualify can join the program immediately.
- School students who have appeared for their Class 11 final exams can apply irrespective of their group/stream/board. Those who qualify can join the program after passing Class 12.
- Applicants must have studied Mathematics and English in Class 10.
- Regular Entry: Candidates, irrespective of their backgrounds, can take admission to the Foundation Level by completing the qualifier process.
- JEE-based Entry: Candidates eligible to appear for the most recent JEE Advanced will be directly admitted to the Foundation Level.

IIT Madras BS Admission 2025 Application Fees
Eligible applicants can start applying by filling in a simple application form and paying the application fee.

The application will be considered only when, after payment, the applicant also fills in further details and submits the required documents for verification. Applications without details & documents, even if paid, will not be considered valid.
Candidates must have access to a good internet connection as well as a laptop/desktop device to effectively learn the courses. For a complete list of software and hardware requirements, please refer to the document - Mandatory System Specifications.
Additionally, learners should be able to travel to assigned exam centres for quizzes and exams, each term. Check the list of exam cities where the exam centres are currently located.
