IIT Kanpur Placement Drive 2023-24: 1045 Students Secured Offers, 26% Remains Unplaced

IIT Kanpur has released its partial placement data for academic session 2023-24. The report reveals that 26% of total students have not been placed yet and 1045 students have secured offers till May 2024.

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has revealed that 372 students, which is about 26% of the total batch strength, are yet to be placed in the ongoing placement drive 2023-24. So far, a total of 1045 students have received offers while 372 students are waiting for placements. 

As per the recent information by IIT Kanpur, the average package offered to students stood at INR 24.4 LPA, and the median package is recorded at INR 18 LPA. Offers were made by well-known recruiters such as Wells Fargo, PwC, Cognizant, Citi Bank, Barclays, etc. 

While comparing the data, 13% of students remained unplaced in IIT Kanpur Placement 2021-22. The average salary was INR 24.6 LPA, and the median salary was INR 20 LPA. About 450 organisations participated in the placement drive, and 1,128 students were placed with 208 PPOs by the end of Phase 1.

For the IIT Kanpur Placement 2023-24, 1,417 students registered for the drive, out of which 1,045 have been placed so far. With this, a total of 372 students remained unplaced. The average package was INR 24.4 LPA, and the median package was INR 18 LPA.

While inquiring about the placements, Dheeraj Singh, a graduate of IIT Kanpur, filed an RTI application to obtain IIT Kanpur placement data from the academic year 2021 to 2024. Dissatisfied with the response of the Central Public Information Official (CPIO), another litigation is filed regarding not providing data.
