IIT JAM Counselling 2026 registration has started. Candidates can apply till April 15 and participate in seat allotment based on AIR and preferences.

IIT JAM Counselling 2026 Registration Starts

The IIT Bombay has started the IIT JAM 2026 counselling application process. Qualified candidates can apply through the official JOAPS portal at jam2026.iitb.ac.in or joaps.iitb.ac.in/login.

As per the schedule, the last date to complete the IIT JAM 2026 counselling registration is April 15, 2026. Candidates must also freeze their choices by May 6, 2026, while the first admission list will be released on May 25, 2026. Only candidates who have secured the qualifying cutoff marks or above in their respective categories will be eligible to participate in the counselling process.

The counselling process is conducted for admission to around 3,000 seats across 89 postgraduate programmes offered by 22 IITs for the academic session 2026–27. The exam is being jointly organised by the IIT Bombay, IISc Bengaluru, and other participating IITs.

How to Register for IIT JAM Counselling 2026?

Qualified candidates can follow the steps below to complete the counselling application form:

Visit the official website: jam2026.iitb.ac.in
Click on the JOAPS portal link
Log in using your Enrollment ID/Email ID and Password
Pay the required application fee
Fill in your preferences for MSc programmes and IITs
Submit the form and save a copy for future reference

IIT JAM 2026 Seat Allotment & Fee Details

After registration, candidates will participate in the seat allocation process, which is based on All India Rank (AIR) and preferences filled during the application. Candidates can choose to accept and freeze, accept with upgrade, or reject and quit after seat allotment.

To confirm admission, candidates are required to pay a seat booking fee of ₹15,000 for General/OBC categories and ₹5,000 for SC/ST/PwD categories.
