IIT Bhilai has published its interview and entrance exam date for PhD admission AY 2025. Candidates are instructed to be present on the allotted interview date with the original copy of the document including Academic certificate, caste certificate and experience certificate.

IIT Bhilai PhD Admission Documents Required
Candidates must carry the original and copy of the documents listed below:
- Photograph.
- Academic credentials (10th, 12th, UG, PG, etc., depending on the situation)
- All-semester grade report or combined grade report for the required degree. Applicants who are awaiting results must provide their most recent or prior semester's grades.
- If appropriate, a caste certificate (OBC-NCL/SC/ST).
- experience certificate and, if appropriate, any other pertinent documentation.
IIT Bhilai PhD Admission Selection Criteria
Apart from the interview and entrance exam, the selection of the candidates to different specializations will be based on the criteria mentioned in the table below:

| Chemistry | Valid GATE score in CY or CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/LS) in Chemical Sciences |
| Computer Science and Engineering | A valid DST INSPIRE Fellowship or CSIR-UGC NET in Computer Science and Applications/Mathematics/Statistics, or a valid GATE score in CS, EC, EE, MA, ST, or DA. |
| Data Science and Artificial Intelligence | A valid CSIR-UGC NET in Computer Science and Applications/Mathematics/Statistics, a valid DST INSPIRE Fellowship, or a valid GATE score in any engineering discipline or MA/ST. |
| Electrical Engineering | GATE score that is valid in EE, EC, IN, CS, MA, PH, and XE. |
| Electronics & Communication Engineering | CSIR/UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Electronic Science or a valid GATE score in CSE/EC/EE/IN/PH. |
| Liberal Arts | NET/UGC JRF (English or Comparative Literature) or GATE in XH must be completed. |
| Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering | Acceptable GATE score in any engineering field, CY/PH/GG/XE, or CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/LS) in Earth, Chemical, or Physical sciences. |
| Mathematics | Valid GATE score in MA/ST or CSIR-UGC NET (JRF/LS) in Mathematical Sciences |
| Mechanical Engineering | AE, CE, CH, ME, MT, PI, PH, XE, or JRF in related mechanical and physical science fields with a valid GATE score. |
