New Delhi: On Friday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the I-Hub Foundation, an incubation centre at IIM-Sambalpur. The foundation aims to help and support innovative ventures in diverse sectors such as textiles, art and culture, agriculture, healthcare, financial and digital inclusivity, tribal entrepreneurship, and sustainability.

Pradhan also launched the Sambalpur chapter of '100 Cube’ startups, envisioning the establishment of 100 startups on its premises. Each startup is targeted to achieve an approximate valuation of INR 100 crore by Odisha's centennial celebration in 2036.

Emphasising the role of startups as wealth and job creators, Pradhan highlighted their contribution to economic opportunities for society's bottom segment.

Identifying healthcare, textiles, agriculture, mines, and minerals as priority startup sectors, Pradhan expressed that educational institutions like IIM Sambalpur serve as natural hubs for mentorship, leveraging the faculty's talent pool.

He highlighted the country's abundant resources and emphasised the need to connect these resources with new ideas, a challenge that incubation centres like I-Hub aim to address.

Director of IIM Sambalpur, Mahadeo Jaiswal, said, "Our unique proposition focuses on promoting local art, culture, and intellectual industry in regions rich in mineral and mining resources. We aim to add value to these sectors. Moreover, we are working towards establishing Odisha as a hub for start-ups and entrepreneurs."
