IIM Sambalpur has announced the admission policy for its 11th MBA batch (2025-27). The selection process includes multiple stages, starting with CAT 2024-based shortlisting, followed by Pre-PI evaluation, work experience scores, and a PI.

The admission policy explains how students will be selected for the MBA program at IIM Sambalpur for the 2025-27 batch. The batch size will be about 320 students. IIM Sambalpur may make changes to the policy or criteria during the process.
IIM Sambalpur Selection Process
The admission process has three stages, with specific criteria applied at each stage. The objective of the admission process is to identify the most suitable candidates for admission to IIM Sambalpur, based on multiple parameters such as CAT score, prior academic qualifications and performance, relevant work experience, and performance in the personal interview.
Stage 1: CAT 2024-based Shortlisting
In this stage, all the eligible candidates who have appeared for CAT 2024 and have selected IIM Sambalpur as one of their preferences in the CAT 2024 registration form will be considered.

Stage 2: Pre-Personal Interview Shortlisting
For all the candidates shortlisted in Stage 1 and who later successfully completed and submitted the online application form, a Pre-PI Score will be calculated out of 80 as follows:
- CAT score = 40
- Class X = 3
- Class XII = 3
- Graduation = 4
- Work Experience = 20
- Gender Diversity = 10
Stage 3: Work Experience
Work experience scores are based on completed months as of 31st January 2025. Marks are given as per the table below, with proportional scores for in-between months.

Stage 4: Personal Interview and Final Merit List
All shortlisted candidates from the previous stage must attend the Personal Interview (PI) at IIM Sambalpur. Missing the PI will result in disqualification.
The normalized PI score will contribute 25% to the final merit score. This PI score (out of 25 marks) will be combined with the adjusted Pre-PI score (scaled to 75 marks) to calculate the final merit score. Candidates must meet a minimum PI score, as decided by IIM Sambalpur, to qualify for the merit list.

IIM Sambalpur Reservation Policy
The selection process will follow government reservation policies to ensure fair representation. Shortlisting will consider the following reservation categories:
Scheduled Castes (SC): 15%
Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5%
Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer): 27%
Differently Abled Persons (DAP): 5%
Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10%
