IIM Nagpur Signs MoU with Maharashtra Government For 'CM's Fellowship' Programme

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur became the first IIM to sign an MoU with the Government of Maharashtra for the Chief Minister's Fellowship (CMF) Programme on May 24, 2023, in a ceremony held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan in Mumbai. In the presence of Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, the state of Maharashtra's deputy chief minister, and Mr. Rajagopal Devara, the department's principal secretary for reforms, the MoU was signed by Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, the Director of IIM Nagpur.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Fadnavis said that the one-year CMF programme was truly liked by young people who aspire to be the best in their industries and want to broaden their knowledge and skill sets. The CMF programme, the first of its type between any state government and an IIM, will support productive academic cooperation.

The goal of the CMF programme, which was first introduced in 2015 by the former chief minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, is to re-es tablish and re-position Maharashtra as a "thought leader" in introducing progressive development partnerships. It was restarted in 2023 by the current chief minister Mr. Eknath Shinde.

For maximum benefits to chosen fellows and the state, the CMF programme will be reoriented, revitalised, and redesigned this year using best practices. While outlining the advantages of the CMF programme, Mr. Fadnavis stated that the state had gained many excellent fellows from a variety of sectors thanks to this programme.

According to him, the fellows chosen through this programme have a wide range of creative ideas that considerably aid the state's growth process. According to officials at IIM Nagpur, the CMF will serve as a model for other states and the Indian government to follow while advancing the state's aim for inclusive and progressive economic development.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Metri stated that IIM Nagpur will concentrate on improving the fellows' understanding of Indian politics and providing them with the skills necessary for effective policy making. The training will aid in the development of the fellows' skills as effective practitioners of development.

Dr. Metri declared his intention to use the CMF programme to aid in the state's growth and his enthusiasm to take part in such initiatives in the future. The program's classroom interventions will concentrate on shaping the fellow's mindset for public service through study into public policy, project management and monitoring, and efficient and successful implementation of unique initiatives from the Maharashtra government.

The programme will also include instruction on the intrapreneurial attitude needed to produce desired results in a public or government setting. The course curriculum of CMF will include a variety of sophisticated methods and strategies for managing relationships with different stakeholders while enabling various tasks, optimising individual and team productivity, along with delivering results with quantifiable impact. The MoU was also signed by Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, Director of IIT Mumbai, to work with the Maharashtra government on the CMF programme.
