IIM Nagpur Signs MoU with District Administration to Develop District Development Strategy; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur has signed an MoU with the district administration to formalise the District Development Strategy (DDS) plans. The collaboration aims to transform the Nagpur district into a preferred investment destination for the corporate world by leveraging new technologies, capacities, and historical data.

In a significant development, IIM Nagpur, under the leadership of Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, has partnered with the District Collector, Dr. Vipin Itankar, to establish the District Development Strategy. This strategic initiative was unveiled in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Divisional Commissioner Vijaylakshmi Bidari.

The primary objective of the collaboration is to provide comprehensive guidelines to the District Collectors in the formulation of action plans and strategies. These plans will facilitate the enhancement of Nagpur district's potential for corporate investments. By identifying new opportunities and leveraging advanced technologies, IIM Nagpur will play a vital role in attracting funds, functionaries, and functions to the region.

Traditionally, the growth plan for Nagpur district involved allocating budgets based on departmental strategies and available funds. However, recognizing the need for a more cohesive approach beyond conventional budget allocation and monitoring, IIM Nagpur will act as a consultant to the administration. Their expertise will aid in the development of time-bound action plans for short, medium, and long-term goals. These plans will encompass specific objectives, initiatives, budgetary provisions, and timelines for execution and completion.

Furthermore, IIM Nagpur will collaborate closely with the Government of Maharashtra and the Government of India to prioritize action plans and align them with their respective development agendas. Additionally, the institute will identify policy gaps that might hinder growth and bring them to the attention of policymakers.

The collaboration also signifies a crucial step towards fostering sustainable development in the Nagpur district and also aims to attract investments, boost economic growth, and optimize resource utilization. This partnership sets the stage for a concerted effort to address the district's unique needs and capitalise on its inherent advantages.

As the District Development Strategy takes shape, the next phase will focus on the implementation of a smart action plan. This plan will outline the sub-sectors, policy reforms, and budgetary provisions necessary for achieving the growth vision.
