IIM Mumbai doctoral admissions are ongoing for the academic year 2026. Admission will be based on an entrance examination and a personal interview. Check all details below.

Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) announces the opening of applications for its full-time and part-time doctoral programmes for the academic year 2025. IIM Mumbai offers General PhD and Executive PhD programs. Online applications are being accepted through the official website, iimmumbai.ac.in, by March 31, 2026.

The application portal will be active till March 31, 2026. Interested candidates belonging to the General/ OBC-Non Creamy Layer Category must pay the application fee of INR 2,000, while SC/ST/PwD candidates must pay the application fee of INR 1,000.

IIM Mumbai PhD Eligibility Criteria

General Eligibility: Admission to the Doctoral programme will be based on an entrance test, the IIM Mumbai entrance examination, conducted by the institute, followed by a presentation, an interview, and viva voce. Applicants are required to hold a postgraduate degree or a four-year bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks, while candidates qualified in the entrance test CAT, GRE, GMAT, GATE, UGC‑NET JRF are exempted from the entrance exam.

Professional qualification - CA, CS, CMA (with a minimum of 50% marks) in addition to a bachelor's degree (with at least 55% marks). Executive PhD: To get admission to the Executive PhD program, a candidate must have a minimum of 65% marks or a candidate with professional qualifications CA, ICWA/CMA, CS (with at least 60% aggregate marks), along with a B.Com./ Degree (with at least 60% aggregate marks).

IIM Mumbai PhD Selection Criteria

Candidates must know that the selection will be based on the marks obtained for the Doctoral Interview and as per the available vacancy in each subject. Qualifying for the Doctoral Interview alone will not ensure admission for research; it needs a recommendation as 'Recommended' for admission by the Doctoral Committee. Doctoral Committees for all Disciplines shall be completed within three months from the date of publication of the notification.
