IIM Indore has begun the classes for their flagship IPM Batch 2023-28. The induction event was graced by IIM Indore Director Himanshu Rai, along with prominent guests and the hopeful ambitions carried by the young students.
New Delhi: The youngest cohort of the five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM Batch 2023-28) have begun their academic journey at the IIM Indore, carrying numerous aspirations and ambitions.
An induction program for the fresh IPM Batch took place at the prestigious business school in Indore. The batch's commencement was marked by an inauguration event featuring IIM Indore director Himanshu Rai and the chief guest Saurabh Chandra, the managing director of BCG India.
During his speech, Rai highlighted the institute's dedication to cultivating future management and business leaders and intellectuals who will influence the course of time. He explained the importance of the 'OCEAN' principles as fundamental tenets to steer their educational voyage.
He pointed out the significance of 'O' for Openness, encouraging students to welcome diverse encounters and interact with individuals from varying backgrounds to cultivate a more comprehensive outlook.
Stressing the importance of 'C' for Conscientiousness, Rai remarked on the need for dedicated and disciplined efforts to achieve success, alongside the significance of cultivating meaningful hobbies.
Moving on to 'E' for Empathy, he urged students to embrace kindness both towards themselves and others, especially when confronted with novel challenges.
Sharing insightful life lessons based on his personal journey, Saurabh Chandra highlighted the significance of acknowledging one's role in a broader purpose, championing humility and teamwork. Encouraging compassion in interactions, especially within a diverse setting, he highlighted the value of empathy.
Speaking about life's unpredictable nature, he urged for embracing uncertainties and immersing oneself fully in life, pointing out the futility of overplanning. He shared the importance of goal flexibility, which should be rooted in the dedication to create value.
Further, he suggested that authenticity emerged as a central principle, allowing for respectful disagreement while staying faithful to personal beliefs. The lessons also covered the significance of gaining wisdom from errors, upholding ethical standards, and acknowledging the unpredictable nature of life. He concluded by imparting advice to the students regarding their well-being.
Meanwhile, the Integrated Programme in Management, IPM remains a highly coveted course, and this year's 13th batch drew a remarkable 24,865 applicants, with 746 being selected for interviews.
This enthusiastic interest highlights the program's unparalleled appeal and recognition within the educational landscape. A total of 156 candidates were handpicked for this cohort, consisting of 49 females and 107 males, who will embark on a journey that promises to hold the potential to profoundly influence their academic and personal path
