IIM Ahmedabad Begins New Academic Session

New Delhi: The 60th class of the two-year full-time Postgraduate Program In Management (PGP) and the 24th batch of the two-year full-time Postgraduate Program In Food And Agribusiness Management (PGP FABM) have commenced at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad). The class of 2023-25 consists of a total of 455 enrolled students.

In terms of educational backgrounds, approximately 42 percent of the batch represents non-engineering disciplines, while the remaining 58 percent come from engineering backgrounds. Comparatively, last year, around 33 percent of the newly-admitted PGP students at IIM Ahmedabad came from arts, science, and commerce backgrounds. Also, this year's PGP Class includes 23 percent female students.

The PGP class of 2023-25 at IIM Ahmedabad comprises 408 students with diverse backgrounds in education, profession, socio-economic status, and gender. While, the PGP FABM batch consists of 47 students who all have backgrounds in food and agribusiness.

Within the PGP class, 26 percent are freshers while 74 percent have previous work experience in various fields such as medicine, multinational companies, public sector undertakings (PSUs), teaching, space research, civil services, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), defense services, gaming, technology, banking, consulting, start-ups, and law firms. In comparison, the PGP FABM batch comprises students solely from food and agribusiness backgrounds.

In terms of gender representation, the class of 2023 has 42 percent women students, an increase from the previous year's 38 percent.

According to a statement from IIM Ahmedabad, a notable number of students with disabilities have joined the PGP Class of 2023-2025. The institute has consistently promoted the concept of inclusive education and has established an Equal Opportunity Office (EOO). 

The EOO works closely with these students to comprehend their unique needs and offers various amenities such as Apple iPads, automotive wheelchairs, specialized software, high-resolution cameras for laptops, and any other specific requirements they may have during their time as students on campus.

Scholarships, Recognition, and Global Rankings at IIM Ahmedabad

Recently, IIM Ahmedabad has introduced 30 new IIMA scholarships for the incoming Class of 2023-25. These scholarships have been generously contributed by the alumni of IIM Ahmedabad through the IIM Ahmedabad Endowment Fund. 

The scholarships consist of 10 awards worth INR 10 lakh each and 20 awards worth INR 5 lakh each, which will be granted to students in their early first and second years.

Apart from these scholarships, the institute offers various other recognition programs for academic excellence, all-round performance, and outstanding achievement in specific subjects. These awards are granted by the institute itself, alumni, as well as individual or organizational donors.

Meanwhile, the PGP and PGP FABM programs at IIM Ahmedabad have achieved high NIRF Rankings globally and in India. The PGP program has been recognized as one of the top management programs worldwide, while the PGP FABM program holds the distinction of being the highest-ranked Master's program in Agribusiness/Food Industry Management for 2022.
