IIIT Ranchi Opens PhD Admissions 2026; Apply by January 5 at iiitranchi.ac.in

An application form is required to be submitted, which is available on the IIIT Ranchi website www.iiitranchi.ac.in. The GATE candidates will also have to apply through the same process.

The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Ranchi has announced the commencement of the PhD admission process for 2026 for full-time and part-time doctoral programmes in multiple disciplines. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official website, iiitranchi.ac.in, with the last date to apply being January 5, 2026.

Interested applicants must submit the application form with self-attested copies of supporting documents, and a payment receipt should be sent by speed/registered post/Courier/by hand on or before the deadline.

According to the official notification, applicants belonging to the UR, EWS, and OBC categories are required to pay an online application fee of INR 1,000, whereas SC, ST, PC, Women, and PWD candidates are required to pay INR 500 while submitting the form.

The minimum eligibility criteria for the full-time PhD program at IIIT Ranchi, a candidate should have 60% marks or 6.0 CPI or equivalent in a Master’s and preceding degree, and should have qualified CSIR/ UGC/ DAE/ NBHM/ DST/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR or secured funding from such an agency. A 5% relaxtion in qualifying marks is given to the candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PD categories.

The PhD programmes are offered across a wide range of departments, including Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics. The programmes are designed to promote advanced research and academic excellence across technical disciplines.

Admission to the PhD programme will be based on candidates’ performance in the entrance test, followed by an interview. However, further updates will be notified on the official website. The candidate must report to the venue on the scheduled date and time for appearing in the written test and/or interview. If the candidate fails to report at the test/admission venue in person/online along with the requisite documents in original by that date and time, he/she will not be considered afterwards for admission.
