IIIT Manipur is inviting applications for PhD programs for the 2024-25 academic year (January - May 2025 session). Previously the last date to apply was January 10, 2025 but now it is extended to January 31, 2025.
Selection will be made on the basis of academic record, the relevance of qualification, research interest, facilities of the departments, performance in the PhD entrance examination, and the interview conducted by the IIIT Manipur.

IIIT Manipur PhD Admission 2024-25 Eligibility Criteria
- Engineering (ECE & CSE Discipline):
- Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology and a minimum 65% marks (or CGPA of 70) both in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees
- In case of SC/ST candidates, the required CGPA/CPI is 6.5 or 60% marks.
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum 80% marks (or CGPA/CPI of 8.5).
- Mathematics:
- Master’s degree in Mathematics/ Statistics and a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks both in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minimum CGPA/CPI 7.5 or 70% marks.
- English: Master’s degree in English/ Linguistics and minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks both in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
- Physics:
- Master’s degree in Physics and minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks both in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Physics/ Engineering Physics with a minimum CGPA/CPI 7.5 or 70% marks.

The medical insurance charge will be collected along with the above fee on alternate semesters. The student may be provided accommodation in the hostels on a charge basis subject to availability. For resident students, hostel and mess related fees will be extra.
Research Assistantship: The selected candidates are eligible to get INR 15,000 per month as a stipend for a period of two years and have to stay in the hostel of IIIT Manipur during the period of the PhD program.
The exam will be based on the GATE 2025 syllabus for Science & Engineering disciplines and the NET 2025 syllabus for English. PhD exam will be conducted at IIIT Manipur, City Campus, Imphal. Valid GATE/NET-qualified candidates are exempted from writing the entrance examination. However, they have to appear for the interview.
Shortlisted candidates who will be called for a written test/ interview will be required to submit a signed copy of the application form and a set of photocopies of all certificates at the time of reporting. They also need to produce original certificates from HSC onwards for verification.
