New Delhi: Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi recently inaugurated the Centre for Intelligent Product Development (CiPD), aimed to strengthen hardware product design capabilities within India's electronics industry. The initiative focuses on enhancing collaborations between academia and industry, offering design services, and consultations, and nurturing startups to address comprehensive challenges in the sector.
The mission of IIIT Delhi behind setting up of the Centre for Intelligent Product Development is generating more job opportunities and helping the local electronics design and manufacturing ecosystem. This effort ultimately contributes to bolstering the country's economic growth. As part of its mission, CiPD aims to achieve several crucial goals. These include
- building expertise to develop globally competitive intelligent products by engaging industry experts to train and enhance the skills of the workforce.
- to create globally certified hardware and software platforms while nurturing a sustainable product development ecosystem within the country.
- focus on fostering collaborations between industries and academic institutions, thereby enhancing industry research and development capabilities for swift concept-to-prototype evolution.
CiPD plans to collaborate with prominent consortia such as EPIC Foundation, CII, FICCI, IESA, STPI, and similar organizations. This collaboration seeks to build a network of industry partners and engaged academic institutions, aiming for a widespread nationwide impact.
Prof. Ranjan Bose, the Director of IIIT-Delhi, expressed his vision for CiPD, “CiPD will work on innovative, high-tech products that are both path-breaking and incorporate emerging technologies. The Centre aims to nurture hardware design capabilities through research and strategic collaborations and create a conducive ecosystem for startups. CiPD’s establishment is a significant stride toward realizing ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in electronics.”
