IIIT Bangalore Invites Applications for PhD Admission 2025-26; Last Date November 30

The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-Bangalore) has opened applications for its PhD Admission 2025-26 cycle. Candidates can apply online through the Research Admissions Portal until November 30, 2025.

The institute will conduct written tests and interviews from December 15 to 17, 2025. IIIT-B has also released its updated Doctorate Fee Structure 2025-26, with a total academic fee of ₹4.92 lakhs.

IIIT Bangalore PhD Admissions 2025-26 Dates

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent) with a good academic record. Candidates may have to take a national or domain-specific entrance test before the interview.

Applicants should hold a 4-year undergraduate degree in engineering or science with at least 75% marks and a valid GATE score in a relevant subject. Selection will be based on UG marks and GATE scores.

Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or equivalent) with a solid academic and technical record. Shortlisted applicants must take a national-level or IIIT-B domain-specific entrance exam before the interview. Those with UGC-NET or similar fellowships can avail them at IIIT-B after successful selection.

IIIT Bangalore Doctorate Fee Structure 2025-26

The total academic fee for the PhD program at IIIT Bangalore for the academic year 2025–26 is ₹4.92 lakhs. The semester-wise tuition fee is structured as follows, ₹77,000 per semester for Year 1 and 2, ₹92,000 per semester for Year 3 and 4, and ₹1,02,000 per semester for Year 5.

The tuition fee remains payable until the submission of the thesis and may be revised periodically. Additionally, students are required to pay an alumni contribution and convocation charge at the time of graduation as per the institute’s prevailing rules.

Stipend Offered

IIIT Bangalore offers a structured stipend to support full-time research scholars during their academic tenure. MS by Research students receive a monthly stipend of ₹20,000, while PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) scholars are granted ₹38,500 per month until the completion of their comprehensive examination, which increases to ₹43,500 per month thereafter.

Similarly, Integrated PhD students are provided ₹20,000 per month until the comprehensive exam and ₹43,500 per month after its completion. The stipend is available for a period of up to five years, in accordance with institute policy.
