IGNOU Launches 9 One-Year Master's Programes for FYUP Graduates; Check Last Date

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched nine one-year Master's programmes. These are open to Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) graduates only. Admissions are live on the Samarth portal at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The announcement was made through IGNOU's official verified handle on X.

The move aligns IGNOU with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework. It offers FYUP graduates a shorter path to a postgraduate degree.

Who Can Apply for the One-Year Master's Programmes?

The nine programmes are open only to FYUP graduates. A four-year undergraduate honours degree from a recognised Indian institution is required. Candidates from IGNOU's own four-year UG stream are also eligible to apply.

Graduates of the older three-year Bachelor's route are not eligible. They must continue with IGNOU's standard two-year Master's programmes.

What Makes the New Programmes Different?

The nine programmes cut the postgraduate timeline from two years to one. This is possible because FYUP graduates complete a research or honours component in year four. That credit load is carried forward into the shorter Master's track.

The programmes follow NEP 2020's multiple entry and exit framework. Students who join can also opt for the credit-based flexibility built into IGNOU's open learning model.

How to Apply for the IGNOU One-Year Master's Programme?

The application process is fully online through the Samarth admission portal. Applicants should keep their FYUP degree and mark sheets ready.

1. Visit the official portal at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
2. Register as a new applicant with an active email and mobile number.
3. Fill in the personal, academic, and programme details carefully.
4. Upload the scanned documents in the prescribed format and size.
5. Pay the non-refundable registration fee of Rs 300 online.
6. Submit the form and save a copy of the confirmation.

Application Fee and Payment Modes

A non-refundable registration fee of Rs 300 is charged per application. Payment can be made through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. Programme-specific tuition fees are billed separately at the enrolment stage.
