The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the re-registration deadline for the January 2026 session for the third time, giving students more time to complete the process.

The university announced that learners can now submit their forms and pay the required fees online till February 28, 2026. The re-registration portal is open for both Indian and international students who wish to continue their next year or semester without interruption.

Who Can Apply for IGNOU Re-Registration?

The re-registration facility is available for:

Students moving to the next year or semester
Learners enrolled in UG, PG, diploma, and certificate programmes
Both Indian and international students

Candidates must carefully select their courses as per their programme guide. Choosing incorrect subjects may lead to academic delays.

IGNOU has issued several important guidelines for applicants. Students who have not registered earlier must first complete the new registration process on the portal before applying. They should provide a valid mobile number and email ID to receive confirmation messages and important updates.

In case of OTP delays or login issues, candidates must contact their Regional Centre for assistance. The re-registration fee can be paid online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI (including BHIM App). If the payment fails but the amount is deducted, students are advised to wait for 24 hours before trying again.

In cases of double payment, one amount will be refunded to the same account. Those using cybercafés or third-party services should carefully check their course selection and payment status and keep a printout of the confirmation for safety. After successful submission:

Students should download and keep a printout of the application form and payment confirmation.
They must regularly check updates from their Regional Centre.
Study materials and academic schedules for the January 2026 session will follow as per university guidelines.
