Institute of Advanced Research (IAR), Gandhinagar, has invited applications for Doctoral admission for the January 2026 intake. Eligible candidates can apply online for admission to various PhD programmes offered by the institute. The last date to submit the application form is January 12, 2026.

According to the admission timeline released by IAR Gandhinagar, the PhD Entrance Test (PET) will be conducted in offline mode on January 27, 2026. The tentative declaration of results is scheduled for January 31, 2026, followed by online interviews on February 6, 2026.

IAR Gandhinagar PhD 2026 Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission to the PhD programme must complete the online application form and appear for the PhD Entrance Test (PET) conducted by IAR Gandhinagar. However, candidates who have qualified UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF), GATE, CEED, or similar national-level examinations are exempted from the PET.

The PET examination will consist of two sections. Section I will test general aptitude, common to all departments, while Section II will include subject-specific questions related to the chosen discipline. Both sections will carry equal weightage of 50%, with 50 questions of one mark each. The total duration of the test will be two hours, and the exam will be objective in nature.

Candidates securing at least 50% marks in the written test (45% for reserved categories) will be shortlisted for the interview. The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the institute’s notice board and official website.
