New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh University is inviting applications from candidates interested in PhD Admission 2022 in various fields. Students can apply through the application link on the official website till August 10, 20222.

HPU Shimla offers PhD in various fields like chemistry, maths, zoology, Hindi, Music, Journalism, etc. The course duration is of 3 years and candidates need to have a minimum eligibility of masters or post graduation degree from any recognised university to apply for the program. Admission will be held strictly on merit basis, hence the university will publish a merit list for various subjects. Candidates will be called for counselling according to the merit lists.

Here is the detailed eligibility criteria that students need to fulfil in order to take admission to PhD Course. It is to be noted that only applications from eligible candidates will be taken into consideration.

• Master’s degree or an equivalent professional degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade B in the UGC-7 point scale or equivalent grade if another grading system is followed.
• 5% relaxation of marks from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for the candidates belonging to ST/SC/Definitely-abled and other categories of candidates as per university norms.

HPU PhD Admission 2022: Selection Process

The selection for admission to PhD Course at HPU is through entrance exam for some courses and through direct merit for some. According to the notification released by HPU on July 21, 2022, it has opened the application window for PhD Courses through direct admission. The admission to these courses will be strictly merit based and no entrance exam shall be held. HPU will release merit lists of students according to their academic record and qualifying exam scores. Students will be called for admission according to the merit list. 

However, the notification also mentioned that an entrance exam shall be conducted in December 2022 to fill the vacant seats if any. Students should follow the official website for further details from the university.

Step 2: Click on the "Online Application" link on the homepage and on the "PhD Admission" link on the next page.

Step 3: Register yourself by entering your details as required and click on submit to continue. 

Step 4: Fill out the online application form and upload a copy of required documents.

Step 5: Review your details and submit the form to complete your admission process.
