HBTU Kanpur Begins PhD Admissions for Winter Session 2025–26; Apply Online Till December 25

Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, has opened applications for its PhD programmes for the Academic Session 2025–26 (Winter Session). Interested candidates can apply online at hbtuadm.samarth.edu.in until December 25, 2025. The application fee of ₹2,500 is non-refundable.

The programme-wise list of candidates qualified through UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE, CEED, or similar national-level exams will be published on December 30, 2025. The list of candidates eligible for the University Entrance Test will also be released on the same day.

HBTU Kanpur PhD Admission 2025–26 Dates

Below is the official tentative schedule for the PhD Admission Process at Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, for the Academic Session 2025–26 (Winter Session).

The HBTU PhD Entrance Test will be conducted on January 7, 2026. The written examination comprises Paper I (research aptitude, reasoning, data interpretation, and language skills) and Paper II (subject-specific). Both papers will consist of multiple-choice questions.

Candidates must score at least 50% aggregate to qualify for the interview. The written exam and interview carry 70% and 30% weightage, respectively. Candidates with valid national-level qualifications are exempted from the written test but must appear for the interview.

The interview and document verification will be held on January 12, 2026, followed by the final result on January 14, 2026. Selected candidates must deposit the academic fee of ₹65,000 between January 14–18, 2026. Registration and commencement of classes will begin on January 19, 2026.

HBTU offers full-time, sponsored, part-time, and QIP categories of PhD programmes across multiple departments, with eligibility varying by discipline. All information and updates will be available on hbtu.ac.in, and candidates are advised to check the website regularly.
