The Education Department of Gujarat has declared that special university exams will be held in August-September for students from containment zones.
Marks secured by students through these exams will be considered as regular when presented in student’s mark sheets. The state education department made this decision through a GR (Government Resolution).
Further, many students have returned to home states or even abroad due to the lockdown. In such circumstances, travelling back can be troublesome.
For such students, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) and Gujarat University will conduct online exams in their respective districts. The reason is, both GTU and Gujarat University have students enrolled from different parts of the country.
As per the GR, students in intermediate semesters like 2, 4 as well as 6 will be promoted based on their merit and fees for following semesters will be adjusted as well.
The state education department also held an online meeting with Vice-Chancellors of state-based universities, dated May 29, 2020. The meeting was headed by Bhupendrasinh Chudasam, Education Minister, Gujarat.
Another GR also advised all state universities to arrange for complete online admission and look for document verification, when normalcy is restored. The government has also advised colleges in Gujarat affiliated to state universities to conduct academic activities for semester 3, 5, and 7 from 21 June 2020.
