GNDU: Semester Exams to be Conducted in Offline and Online Mode; Read What Led to this Decision

January 14, 2021: Guru Nanak Dev University(GNDU) has decided to conduct semester exams both in the offline and online mode after its decision to conduct offline exams till January 27, 2021, was disputed by the students. 

GNDU has been conducting offline exams for all its courses since December 2020. Pertaining to the Covid-19 pandemic, the university has allowed students to appear for the exams online through National Testing Agency (NTA) by registering themselves online.

GNDU’s Controller of Examinations, Dr Manoj Kumar, said that the university has a total of 40 departments that have been conducting offline exams successfully since December 2020. Students, objecting to appear for offline exams, can do it online by registering on the university website. 

The registration link will be shared with the students interested and the exam will be conducted through NTA. The university will not be a party to this process, he added.

Dr Manoj Kumar also added that the exams conducted in the online mode will be purely based on NTA’s disposition. 

“It will be a proctored exam conducted under strict surveillance. There will be no relaxations in the syllabus and other aspects,” he said.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the university’s decision to conduct offline exams materialized a host of disputes. GNDU had announced that they would conduct offline exams with relaxation to the students.

KS Kahlon, Registrar of GNDU said, “We have done everything possible to help students keeping in mind the hardships they faced due to online education or any other issue in the wake of the pandemic.” 

Many students had expressed their concerns against the decision to conduct offline exams, thus the university made arrangements to ensure that they had the choice to appear for online exams if they desired, he added.
