GATE COAP 2024 Registration Likely to Start on March 20; Check Dates Here

New Delhi: In a recently released schedule, IIT Kanpur has tentatively put March 20, 2024, as the date for the commencement of registration process for GATE Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP).

IIT Kanpur will be the one to make the official announcement after the GATE 2024 Results are out on March 16, 2024. More information on GATE Results and COAP can be found on the official website at gate2024.iisc.ac.in.

Offers from participating IITs and PSUs will be available tentatively from May 15, 2024 to June 15, 2024. COAP Counselling rounds will also tentatively start from May 21, 2024 and last until June 19, 2024. Candidates who have taken the GATE exams in 2024/2023/2022 can register for COAP 2024.

Please Note:

• * No, if you have already used Retain & Wait on the same offer twice. The same offer refers to the program “XYZ” of a particular Institute “ABC”.
• Rounds 1-4 will have the option of (i) Accept & Freeze (ii) Retain & Wait (iii) Reject & Wait.
• Round 5 will be a Decisive Round, therefore the candidates will have only 'Accept and Freeze' and 'Reject' options to select.

What is GATE COAP?

COAP is a common platform for a GATE-qualified candidate to make the preferred choice for M.Tech admission in participating IITs/ PSU offers. GATE COAP 2024 consists of 23 participating institutes that include several IITs and IISc Bangalore. Under COAP 2024, the seats are offered based on GATE scores, cut-off, and the preferences filled.

However, the GATE COAP is not an application portal for M.Tech admission but a common window where the participating institutes / PSUs upload their offers. Candidates must also separately apply to the respective IITs for M.Tech admission.

How to register for GATE COAP 2024? 

Follow this step-by-step procedure to register for GATE COAP 2024: 

Step 1: Go to the official website at gate2024.iisc.ac.in.

Step 2: Enter all the necessary details to register yourself. 

Step 3: Your login details will be sent to you via email upon registration. Use those to sign into the COAP portal. 

Step 4: Go to the official website of the institute you want to apply to and fill in admission details there. 

Step 5: Keep an eye on the allotment rounds and check your status after each round. There can be as many as 12 rounds of offers from participating IITs, PSUs, and other institutes.
