GATE 2027 Registration Dates Revised at gate2027.iitm.ac.in; Check Last Date to Apply

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has issued revised GATE 2027 dates. The updated schedule is now live at gate2027.iitm.ac.in. GATE stands for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

Registration will begin on 27 August 2026. Candidates can apply without a late fee till 27 September 2026. The extended registration window with a late fee closes on 5 October 2026.

GATE 2027 will be held on six days in February 2027. The exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. GATE scores will remain valid for three years from the date of result declaration.

Key Changes Introduced in GATE 2027

IIT Madras has announced several structural updates for the GATE 2027 cycle. The exam will feature 30 test papers this year. Candidates may attempt one paper or two permitted paper combinations.

• A new paper on Robotics and Automation (RA) has been introduced.
• The GATE syllabus has been revised across papers after five years.
• Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) is now a section within Engineering Science (XE).
• DigiLocker registration and facial authentication are mandatory for Indian applicants.

How to Register for GATE 2027?

Candidates can register online from 27 August 2026. The process runs entirely on the GOAPS portal. Follow these steps to complete the GATE 2027 application form.

1. Visit the official GATE 2027 website at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
2. Click on the GOAPS registration link.
3. Create your profile using a verified DigiLocker account.
4. Complete facial authentication as prompted by the portal.
5. Fill in academic, category and paper choice details.
6. Upload the required documents in the prescribed format.
7. Pay the GATE 2027 application fee through the online payment gateway.
8. Submit the application form and download the confirmation page.
