IIT Roorkee is going to conduct GATE 2025 16 February examination in two shifts. GATE 2025 16 Feb shift 1 is conducted for CE1, GG, CH, PH, and BT papers from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and shift 2 for CE2, ST, XE, XL, and MN from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
The GATE 2025 has officially concluded, with the final session held on February 16, 2025 for CE2, ST, XE,XL, and MN. Conducted by IIT Roorkee, the exam was held over four days, February 1, 2, 15, and 16, covering 32 disciplines across 8 sessions. This year, early feedback from students and experts indicates that Civil Engineering (CE) and Chemical Engineering (CH) were among the most challenging papers, with a high number of numerical and application-based questions. In contrast, Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Mechanical Engineering (ME) had a moderate difficulty level, with a balanced mix of theoretical and numerical problems.
The General Aptitude section of The GATE 2025 was found trickier than previous years, particularly in reasoning and language-based questions.

GATE 2025 Negative Marking
GATE 2025 question paper includes MCQ, MSQ, and NAT type of questions. Negative marking only applies to MCQs and there is no negative marking for MSQs and NATs. The GATE 2025 Marking scheme is mentioned in the table below.

GATE 2025 February 16 Paper Analysis
The IIT Roorkee conducted GATE 2025 exam has officially ended, and early trends suggest sharp differences in difficulty levels across subjects. The current year's exam had a blend of concept-oriented, numerical-type, and analytical questions, putting candidates' detailed knowledge to test.
GATE 2025 Overall Difficulty Level
- Hardest Papers: Chemical Engineering (CH) and Civil Engineering (CE) were the hardest because they were highly numerically complex and conceptually deep.
- Moderate Papers: Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Mechanical Engineering (ME) were comparatively moderate in difficulty, with a mix of theory and application.
- General Aptitude (GA) Difficulty: In all branches, students experienced the GA segment as tougher than in earlier years, particularly with regard to reasoning and language ability.

GATE 2025 Exam Day Guidelines
Students must follow the below-mentioned guidelines for GATE 2025 examination.

Candidates must arrive at the examination center at least 60 minutes before the examination.

Any candidate arriving 30 minutes or more late for the examination after the examination has begun will not be permitted to enter the examination center.

Students must be seated in their assigned seats 40 minutes before the examination starts.

Login process and instruction review must commence 20 minutes before the examination starts.

Students must not leave the examination center before the completion of the examination without the permission of invigelator.

Documents Required for GATE 2025 Examination

Items Prohibited in GATE Exam Center
Students must not take the below-mentioned items inside the examination center.

Electronic devices (mobile phones, smartwatches, earphones, calculators, etc.)

Jewelry, accessories, bags, and personal belongings.
Candidates must only carry the required documents (allowed by the authority) and a pen inside the examination hall.
Virtual Calculator for GATE 2025 Examination
A virtual calculator will be provided on the screen for calculations. Students must practice during the mock tests using the virtual calculator.
