DU Vice Chancellor Launches Two Books by Blind Authors; Commits to Deliver Special Laptops for Blind Students

The Vice Chancellor of DU spoke passionately about wanting to aid blind students to achieve new heights with the aid of special technology suited to their needs.

DU Vice Chancellor Launches Two Books by Blind Authors

New Delhi: The Vice Chancellor of Delhi University (DU), Prof. Yogesh Singh, recently launched two books written by blind authors. The books launched were "Pragya-Nayan" written by Dr. Ram Avtar Sharma, and "Antim Jaan Tak", written by Prof. Kusumlata Malik. 

The Braille versions of the books were also published at the same event.

Addressing the crowd at the book launch Prof. Yogesh Singh spoke at length about Louise Braille, and how his invention of the Braille script was an essential part of integrating technology that still helps blind people today. 

Prof. Singh also spoke about the need to change the minds of society regarding disability and disabled people. He also talked about ways that institutes and people could become more inclusive towards those with different needs and lives.

Announcing one such endeavour to include more visually disabled students, he unveiled DU’s endeavours to equip blind students with special laptops suited to their needs. The plan is a bold step forward in Delhi University’s growing advocacy for diversity and inclusion and the provision of opportunities for all.
