DU Opens Merit-Based UG Admissions 2026-27 in 9 More Colleges; Check College-Wise Dates

The University of Delhi (DU) has expanded Class 12 merit-based undergraduate admission to nine additional colleges for the 2026-27 academic session. The latest public notice was issued on August 23, 2026, and is available on the official DU admission portal.

Under this special non-CUET admission route, eligible candidates will be selected based on their Class 12 marks, programme-specific eligibility and vacant-seat availability. Candidates already admitted to a DU college are not eligible to apply under this scheme.

DU Nine Additional Colleges and Programmes

The latest phase mainly covers vacant seats in Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Mathematics and applied science programmes.

Shyam Lal College (Evening) in the latest phase is separate from Shyam Lal College, which was included in the earlier expansion.

College-Wise Application and Merit List Dates

Candidates must apply through the registration form issued by the respective college. Since every college follows a separate schedule, applicants should verify the latest notice before submitting the form.

Vacant Seats in Major Colleges

Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences has 108 vacant seats across three programmes:

• 31 seats in B.Sc. (Hons.) Electronics
• 37 seats in B.Sc. (Hons.) Instrumentation
• 40 seats in B.Sc. (Hons.) Polymer Science

Applicants for these science programmes must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12.

Motilal Nehru College (Evening) has 52 vacant seats across its four listed programmes, including 26 seats in B.A. (Hons.) Hindi.

At Indraprastha College for Women, the vacancies include 49 seats in B.A. (Hons.) Sanskrit and 32 seats in B.A. (Hons.) Hindi, with several seats falling under reserved categories.

DU Merit-Based Admission Started With Two Colleges

The merit-based admission process initially started with two off-campus women’s colleges:

• Aditi Mahavidyalaya
• Bhagini Nivedita College

These colleges were permitted to fill vacant undergraduate seats after the regular CUET UG and CSAS allocation rounds. Both colleges conducted a separate application and physical admission process based on Class 12 merit.

DU subsequently extended the provision to three more colleges

• Shyam Lal College
• Rajdhani College
• Zakir Husain Delhi College (Evening)

These colleges offered vacant seats in selected language, humanities and science programmes. Their application deadlines ranged from August 21 to August 24, 2026.

With the addition of nine more colleges, the Class 12 merit route has now covered 14 DU colleges in total.

Who Can Apply for DU Merit-Based Admission?

Candidates must satisfy the following conditions:

• Selection will be based on Class 12 marks and available seats.
• Applicants must meet the programme-specific subject and eligibility requirements prescribed by DU.
• Candidates already admitted to any DU college cannot apply.
• Applicants must submit valid Class 10, Class 12 and category documents.
• No admission will be granted on an undertaking if a required category certificate is pending.
• Applying through a college form does not guarantee admission.

For some programmes, candidates must have studied the relevant language in Class 12. For example, applicants for B.A. (Hons.) Hindi at Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College must satisfy the prescribed Hindi subject requirement.

Mata Sundri College for Women accepts only female candidates and prepares separate merit lists for eligible Sikh minority candidates.

How to Apply for DU Class 12 Merit Admission?

1. Visit the official website of the participating college.
2. Open the UG merit-based admission 2026-27 notice.
3. Check the programme, vacant seats and eligibility requirements.
4. Open the college’s registration or Google Form.
5. Enter the required academic and personal information.
6. Upload the prescribed documents and submit the form.
7. Check the college website for the merit list.
8. If shortlisted, report physically for document verification and pay the admission fee within the deadline.

Candidates applying to multiple departments at Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences must submit a separate form for each department.

Shortlisted candidates should keep the following documents ready:

• Class 10 marksheet and certificate
• Class 12 marksheet and certificate
• Valid category certificate, if applicable
• Recent passport-size photographs
• Identity proof
• Self-attested copies of the required documents

Candidates should rely on the DU admission portal and the respective college websites for updated merit lists, document-verification schedules and fee-payment deadlines.

4. Submit the college's Google registration form before its deadline.

7. Pay the admission fee within the college's final payment window.
