DIAT Pune M.Tech 2026 Admissions Open Now

As per the official admission notifications published by the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, M.Tech admissions for the academic year 2026-27 are now open across four distinct categories: Sponsored/Self-Sponsored, GATE Scholars (via CCMT 2026), Self-Financed (Phase I and Phase II), and Working Professionals. Each category follows a separate schedule, application process, and eligibility requirement.

DIAT is a Category "A" Deemed to be University under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, established in 1952 and recognised by UGC under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. It is NAAC and NBA accredited, and operates from its campus at Girinagar, Pune.

The Working Professionals category specifically offers M.Tech in Industrial Systems Engineering with two specialisations: Model Based Systems Engineering and Radar Systems and Technologies.

Eligibility

For the Self-Financed category, candidates must hold a B.E./B.Tech degree (or equivalent) with a minimum of 55% marks or a 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale. Candidates with any outstanding backlog from Semester I to Semester VII are not eligible. All candidates must appear for an offline written test conducted at DIAT campus in Pune.

For the Working Professionals category, candidates need a B.E./B.Tech or M.Sc from a recognised institution, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience. They must be currently employed and provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.

GATE Scholars are admitted entirely through the CCMT 2026 portal as per the CCMT schedule; no separate DIAT application is required for this category.

Application fee for General, EWS, and OBC candidates is Rs. 1,000. SC, ST, and PWD candidates pay Rs. 500. All payments must be made digitally via State Bank Collect. Hostel charges are billed separately; SC/ST students can claim reimbursement of hostel fees semester-wise after completion.

How to Apply

For the Self-Financed category, candidates must upload a single PDF of their filled application form and supporting documents via the official Google Form linked on diat.ac.in/m-tech-programmes and also send it to mtech_admissions@diat.ac.in. Candidates may apply for up to 5 programmes in a single form with no additional application fee. The original hard copy must be submitted to the department at the time of admission. No hard copy by courier is required at the application stage.

For the Sponsored/Self-Sponsored category, the filled application form along with documents must be sent by post or courier to the Joint Registrar (Academics), Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Girinagar, Pune 411025.

Defence-Specialised Curriculum

DIAT is the only deemed university in India that operates directly under the Department of Defence Research and Development, Ministry of Defence. Its M.Tech programmes are specifically designed to serve the needs of the Armed Forces, DRDO, Defence Quality Assurance, and Public Sector Undertakings. Students under the Self-Financed category do not receive any scholarship or assistantship from the institute.

Action Plan

  1. Visit diat.ac.in/m-tech-programmes to download the Information Bulletin and Application Form for your relevant category.
  2. For Self-Financed Phase I: check if your name appears on the Phase I shortlist and prepare for the written test on June 10, 2026 at DIAT Pune.
  3. For Self-Financed Phase II: submit your application by June 16, 2026 via the Google Form and email.
  4. For Sponsored/Self-Sponsored: the application deadline was May 15, 2026; watch for interview call letters around May 25, 2026.
  5. For GATE Scholars: register through the CCMT 2026 portal as per CCMT schedule.
  6. Pay the application fee online via State Bank Collect before submitting the form. Keep your payment receipt.
Keep an Eye On

Watch diat.ac.in for the Phase I merit list on June 11, 2026, and counselling updates for June 11 and 12. Phase II application closes June 16, 2026 with the written test on July 15. CCMT 2026 schedule updates will govern GATE Scholar admissions.
