CUET-Based PG Admissions Now Mandatory in Madhya Pradesh; Apply Till January 20

Madhya Pradesh has made CUET-PG mandatory for all PG admissions from the 2026–27 academic session. Candidates can apply for CUET-PG 2026 till January 20 through the official website.

Madhya Pradesh Higher Education authorities have announced that the CUET-PG will now be mandatory for all PG admissions in the state from the 2026–27 academic session. This decision means students seeking admission to PG courses in Madhya Pradesh, whether in government or private universities, must qualify through CUET-PG, ending previous direct or merit-based entry routes.

The move aligns state admission procedures with the National Education Policy’s objective of standardising higher education entrance examinations across India. Officials have emphasised that mandating CUET-PG aims to bring transparency, fairness and uniform evaluation to the PG admission process. Students will no longer be able to secure seats based solely on UG marks or university-specific criteria; instead, CUET-PG scores will determine eligibility and ranking.

CUET-PG 2026: Application Deadline

CUET-PG 2026 applications are currently open, and the NTA, which conducts the exam, has extended the registration deadline till January 20, 2026, as the final date for submitting online applications through the official portal. The correction window for CUET-PG 2026 applications will open from January 23 to January 25, during which candidates can edit permitted fields in their forms.

Madhya Pradesh Updates PG Admission Rules

Earlier, different universities and colleges in Madhya Pradesh followed their own methods to admit students into PG courses. Some institutions used their own entrance exams or UG merit lists. Now, the admission process has been made common and standard across the state.

From now on, all PG admissions in Madhya Pradesh will be based on CUET-PG scores. This means every student must qualify through CUET-PG to get admission. The new system will ensure a fair and transparent process for everyone.

What Do the New Rules Mean?

• Single Entrance Exam: CUET-PG will be the only exam for PG admissions in Madhya Pradesh.

• No Direct Admission: Colleges can no longer give direct admissions or prepare their own merit lists.

• Subject-Based Entry: Students can apply only for PG courses related to their UG subject. For example, a BSc Physics student cannot apply for an MA History unless the university allows it under special rules.
