Mr. Subhra Sanka Chatterjee is working as an Associate Professor and Course Coordinator in the B.Voc/ B.Des Jewellery Design program at the Indian Institute of Gem and Jewellery. He has 17 years of teaching experience along with 8 years of Jewellery industry experience. He has worked as a Chief Jewellery Designer in the New Delhi Jewellery Division in a reputed Jewellery Studio and Firm. His key areas of teaching are Design development, Jewelry drawing & rendering techniques and Gemstone studies and Research-based design projects for over 15 years. He has done Certificate in Jewellery Design from Mumbai, Certificate in Gem Identification from GTL and later got a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. He has also done MBA from a reputed university.

IIGJ Jaipur provides short course as well as long course program from two months to four years. Aspirants can choose the program according to their learning capacities as well as what they are actually learning about gems & jewellery programs. Right now IIGJ Jaipur provides B.Des Jewellery Design program (4 Years) which is affiliated with one of the leading Government Universities in India. Later on students can select M.Des in the Jewellery Design program. We are a student and industry driven Institute, so we explore this issue by creating a strong and clear perspective about the role of a designer/ merchandiser in the ever changing Indian Jewelry industry. What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?
The faculty of the individual module of this program took the initiative to meet the individual student and planned the assignments of individual design project for the entire level essentially, to gear up students for the next level. A regular session with faculty was planned & conducted accordingly, to take feedback and monitor the assignments. As a custodian of the program, the Institute has always been student-centered and market-oriented, and it is the considered policy of the institute to review and revise its curriculum to the developments and demands of the evolving market.

Yes, I would like to tell them to work hard, be the soft person, be loyal to the work you get, to the study you are doing, this time is actually very important and this does not comes back so be wise and smart of the decisions you make and the field you choose because this is your career start.
