The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani has opened the admission withdrawal window for the Higher Degree (HD) 2026 programmes on its official portal at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in/HD. Candidates who have accepted an admission offer but wish to cancel their seat can now submit the request online.

The window has opened after the Iteration 2 results were declared on June 8, 2026. Shortlisted candidates were required to pay the advance fee by June 22, 2026 to confirm their seat. Those who paid but now want to opt out must act before their reporting date.

Who Can Apply for Withdrawal?

The withdrawal facility is open to candidates who have received an HD 2026 admission offer and paid the advance fee. This includes those admitted through the BITS Higher Degree Test route as well as the GATE and GPAT score route. Both first-round and Iteration 2 candidates are eligible.

The request must reach the institute before the candidate is scheduled to report on campus. Late withdrawals filed after the reporting date will not be entertained for refund.

How to Withdraw BITS HD 2026 Admission Online?

Candidates must follow these steps on the official portal to submit their withdrawal request:

  • Visit the HD admission portal at admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in/HD.
  • Log in using your application number and password.
  • Select the withdrawal option from the candidate dashboard.
  • Fill in the required details and reason for withdrawal.
  • Upload supporting documents if asked.
  • Submit the request and save the acknowledgement copy.

What Is the Fee Refund Policy?

BITS Pilani will process the refund only after verifying the genuineness of the case. A flat Rs 1000 will be deducted as a processing fee from the amount paid. A pro-rated hostel fee and actual expenses incurred by the institute will also be subtracted.

The remaining amount will be credited back to the candidate. The refund is not automatic and the institute reserves the final decision on each case.

BITS HD 2026 Programmes Offered

The Higher Degree admission covers postgraduate courses across the Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. Major programmes include:

  • M.E. in Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
  • M.E. in Software Systems, Microelectronics and Embedded Systems
  • M.E. in Biotechnology, Communication Engineering and Design Engineering
  • M.Pharm. with optional specialisations

Admission to most streams is offered through the BITS HD Test, GATE score or GPAT score. The M.E. Software Systems programme is the only stream not open to GATE-based applications.

Why This Matters

The window helps candidates who have received offers from other top institutes such as IITs or IISc. Withdrawing early frees up a seat for waitlisted students in later iterations.
