BITS Design School Begins B.Des Admission 2026; To Accept UCEED alongside BITSDAT/ NID DAT

BITS Design School (BITSDes) Mumbai has officially opened admissions for its Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme for the 2026 academic year. Interested candidates can submit their applications online at bitsdesign.edu.in until February 1, 2026. The application fee is ₹2,500, and there will be only one round of applications.

Applicants who submit their forms before the deadline will be able to upload their BITSDAT, UCEED, or NID DAT Prelims scores when the portal is opened. It is important to note that fresh applications will not be accepted during the score upload window. The BITSDAT 2026 exam is scheduled to be held from March 31 to April 5, 2026. All timelines are subject to change at the discretion of the university.

BITS Design School Admission Dates 2026

Eligibility criteria for the B.Des programme require candidates to have completed 10+2 (or equivalent) in any stream from a recognised board of education with a minimum of 45% marks. Additionally, applicants should have taken at least one of the following design entrance tests: the National Institute of Design – Design Aptitude Test (NID-DAT) Prelims, the IIT Bombay Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED), or the BITS Design Aptitude Test (BITSDAT).

The selection process includes a portfolio-based interview, which helps the institute identify candidates who show strong potential in design. During this stage, the school evaluates applicants based on several key qualities. They look for students who are fully committed to pursuing a career in design, are creatively inclined with a strong sense of aesthetics, have a natural aptitude for problem-solving in design, and can communicate ideas effectively through verbal and visual media.
