Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, popularly known as BIT Mesra, has begun inviting applications for PhD admission 2026 for the Monsoon session. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their online applications by April 30, 2026, through the official website bitmesra.ac.in.

The institute is inviting applications for its doctoral programmes across disciplines in engineering, sciences, management, allied research areas, and Humanities & Social Sciences.

BIT Mesra PhD Admission Dates 2026

The institute offers performance-based scholarships to candidates with a fellowship amount of INR 25,000 per month for the first year, and later INR 30,000 per month from the second year.

BIT Mesra PhD Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must hold a master's degree in a relevant field with at least 60% marks from a recognised university. Sponsored candidates by industries or academic institutions must have at least two years of work experience. For direct admission, a candidate must have a 4 years bachelors degree with high academic performance.

Note: A relaxation of 5 % is given to the candidates belonging to the reserved category.

BIT Mesra PhD Selection Process

The selection process for the PhD programme at BIT Mesra includes a written entrance examination. Candidates who qualify for the entrance test will be shortlisted for an interview. The final selection will be based on the total evaluation of the written test, academic record, and interview.

Candidates who have qualified national-level exams such as UGC-NET, CSIR-NET or other similar exams are exempted from the institute's entrance test and will be directly considered for the interview process.
