BIT Mesra Extends Ph.D. Admission For AY 2024-25; Apply till November 28

Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra Ranchi has extended the admissions for Ph.D. programmes for the academic session 2024-25.

Interested candidates can still apply by November 28, 2024, and the shortlisted candidates for the mock test will be announced on November 29, 2024.

BIT Mesra Ph.D. Admission 2024-25 Eligibility

Candidates with any of the qualifications are eligible for admission to Ph.D. programmes.

• Candidates must have minimum 60% marks or equivalent in M.Tech. / M.E. / M.Sc. (Engg.) / M.Arch. / M.Pharm. / M.S.(Pharm.) / M.Sc.(Pharm) / M. Plan./ M.Sc./ MCA / MBA/M.A. or equivalent degree.
• Candidates must have minimum 70% marks or equivalent in B.Tech. / B.E. / B.Sc. (Engg.) / B.Pharm / B.Arch. / B.Plan. or equivalent degree. (In this case, the candidates must pass in more numbers of qualifying Pre- PhD papers.)
• Sponsored candidates (supported by Industry or Academia) must have minimum two years of professional work experience, in addition to any of the eligibility criteria. Candidates should also have valid sponsorship for at least three years.
• SC/ST candidates will get a relaxation of 5% marks.
• Employees of the institute and other organisations have to produce a NOC from the institute and their respective employer.

BIT Mesra Ph.D. Admission 2024-25 Selection Procedure

• Candidates with JRF will be selected on their Personal Interview performance.
• Candidates without JRF will be selected on their NET scores. 70% weightage will be given to NET scores and 30% to Personal Interview performance.
• Candidates without a valid NET score have to appear for the Ph.D. test conducted by the institute. 45% weightage (General/ Sponsored) will be given to the test scores (40% for ST/SC) followed by the PI round.
• Candidates with UGC-CSIR-JRF/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/GATE/NET-JRF and all other similar all-India fellowships are exempted from the institute’s Ph.D. test.

BIT Mesra Ph.D. Admission 2024-25 Documents

Candidates must carry the following documents in original during reporting for the interview along with a set of photocopies.

• Pass certificate and Marksheet of Class 10th and Class 12th
• Certificate and Marksheets of Graduation and Postgraduation
• College Leaving Certificate
• Migration Certificate
• Candidates from correspondence or distance-learning programs have to bring
  • Work Experience Certificate
  • Pass Certificate and Marksheets of qualifying examination
  • proof of the program recognized by the DEC-UGC-AICTE or MHRD on the letterhead of the Institute/College /University
• UGC-CSIR/DBT/BINC/ICMR-JRF and all other similar all-India fellowships Admit card and Score card (if applicable)
• Caste certificate / special category certificate (if applicable)
• Sponsorship letter, NOC, and Experience Certificate (if applicable) for Sponsored / Part-Time candidates.

Candidates have to pay the application fee of INR 1,500/- for the GEN/OBC category and INR 1,000 for the SC/ST category through Netbanking/Credit/Debit card.
