As per Anna University, the newly launched BPlan program would be funded with INR 18.53 crore over five years. The funds are provided by the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) and Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).

The first batch of Anna University BPlan Program 2022 includes a total of 35 applicants, and classes will start for the academic session 2022-23 in November 2022. The course was introduced in part by the Housing and Urban Development Secretary Hitesh Kumar Makwanam.

To give BPlan graduates placement opportunities, the service regulations for town planners in government departments have been modified. The program will be offered to interested and eligible candidates by Anna University's School of Architecture and Planning (SAP).

The State Housing and Urban Development Department issued a government order stating that the university's registrar had asked for financial assistance for capital costs to establish the BPlan programme and monthly recurring expenses of INR 17.8 lakh to start the course in the 2022–2023 academic year.

For the first five years, SAP proposed an estimated total of Rs 18.54 crore. The judge instructed the CMDA and DTCP to provide an initial funding seed of INR 10 crore by splitting the costs in a ratio of 80:20, respectively.
