Allahabad University PG Admission 2026 Begins via PGAT; Apply by May 25 @allduniv.ac.in

The University of Allahabad has announced the Postgraduate Admission Test (PGAT) 2026-27 for admission to various postgraduate programmes. Online registration commenced on May 5, 2026, and will continue until May 25, 2026, through the official portal aupravesh2026.cbtexam.in.

Candidates seeking admission to conventional and non-conventional postgraduate courses must register during this window. The university offers over 32 postgraduate programmes across multiple disciplines through PGAT-I and PGAT-II.

The University of Allahabad conducts two types of postgraduate entrance tests: PGAT-I for conventional PG courses and PGAT-II for non-conventional PG courses. PGAT-I is offered in both online and offline modes, allowing candidates to choose their preferred examination format.

PGAT-II is conducted exclusively in online mode for specialized postgraduate programmes. Candidates must carefully review the information bulletin to identify which test category applies to their chosen course and select appropriate subject codes during registration.

Allahabad University PG Admission 2026 Important Dates

The registration fees for PGAT 2026 vary based on course category and candidate's reservation status. For PGAT-I courses, unreserved, EWS, and OBC category candidates must pay Rs. 1,000, while SC/ST/PwD candidates pay Rs. 500. For PGAT-II courses, unreserved, EWS, and OBC category candidates must pay Rs. 1,600, while SC/ST/PwD candidates pay Rs. 800.

Payment must be completed during the online registration process through the official portal to confirm the application. Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements for their chosen postgraduate programme as detailed in the PGAT-2026 information bulletin available on allduniv.ac.in.

The University of Allahabad strictly follows Government of India's reservation policy, providing 15% reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC).

Additionally, 10% seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 5% quota for persons with benchmark disabilities, and 2% quota for sports candidates in each course.

Allahabad University PG Admission 2026 Exam Pattern

Each PGAT-2026 test will be of 300 marks comprising 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be answered within the stipulated time. Fifty questions will cover General Awareness, General English, General Hindi, Logical Reasoning, and Mental Ability, which are compulsory for all courses except LL.M., B.Ed., M.Ed., and MBA/MBA-RD programmes. The remaining questions will be specific to the candidate's chosen programme based on their subject code selection. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, allowing candidates to attempt all questions without penalty.

• Candidates must visit the official registration portal aupravesh2026.cbtexam.in to apply for PGAT 2026-27.
• They should click on the appropriate application form link for their chosen course category (PGAT-I or PGAT-II).
• Candidates must fill in all required details carefully, including personal information, educational qualifications, and subject code preferences.
• After completing the form, candidates must pay the applicable registration fee online and submit their application before May 25, 2026, to ensure timely processing.
• Candidates must carefully select their subject codes during registration as no changes will be entertained at any stage of the admission process.                                                                   

Sports quota applicants must undergo a mandatory fitness test including 50m sprint, 1000m running, overhead ball throw, and standing broad jump. Foreign nationals must apply through the International Students Advisor at the University of Allahabad and are not required to appear in PGAT-2026. Applicants for MBA and MBA-RD programmes will be required to take an additional departmental test administered by the respective department.

What’s Next for Students

After successful registration, candidates will receive their admit cards in June 2026 through the official portal. The PGAT examination is expected to be conducted on June 14, 2026, in both online and offline modes depending on the course category. Results will be announced in July 2026, followed by the counselling process in July-August 2026.
