Candidates seeking admission to conventional and non-conventional postgraduate courses must register during this window. The university offers over 32 postgraduate programmes across multiple disciplines through PGAT-I and PGAT-II.
The University of Allahabad conducts two types of postgraduate entrance tests: PGAT-I for conventional PG courses and PGAT-II for non-conventional PG courses. PGAT-I is offered in both online and offline modes, allowing candidates to choose their preferred examination format.

The registration fees for PGAT 2026 vary based on course category and candidate's reservation status. For PGAT-I courses, unreserved, EWS, and OBC category candidates must pay Rs. 1,000, while SC/ST/PwD candidates pay Rs. 500. For PGAT-II courses, unreserved, EWS, and OBC category candidates must pay Rs. 1,600, while SC/ST/PwD candidates pay Rs. 800.

The University of Allahabad strictly follows Government of India's reservation policy, providing 15% reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC).
Additionally, 10% seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 5% quota for persons with benchmark disabilities, and 2% quota for sports candidates in each course.
Allahabad University PG Admission 2026 Exam Pattern
Each PGAT-2026 test will be of 300 marks comprising 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be answered within the stipulated time. Fifty questions will cover General Awareness, General English, General Hindi, Logical Reasoning, and Mental Ability, which are compulsory for all courses except LL.M., B.Ed., M.Ed., and MBA/MBA-RD programmes. The remaining questions will be specific to the candidate's chosen programme based on their subject code selection. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, allowing candidates to attempt all questions without penalty.

Applicants for MBA and MBA-RD programmes will be required to take an additional departmental test administered by the respective department.
