The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, popularly known as AIIMS Delhi, has announced the commencement of the PhD admission process for the January 2026 session for full-time and part-time doctoral programmes in multiple disciplines. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official website, aiimsexams.ac.in, with the last date to apply being January 26, 2026, till 5 PM.

As per the official notification, candidates belonging to the general category have to pay the application fee of INR 2,000; SC, ST, and EWS categories have to pay INR 1,600, including transaction charges as applicable. Candidates belonging to the PWBD are exempted from the fee.

AIIMS Delhi PhD Eligibility Criteria
Below is the general eligibility criteria for the PhD program at AIIMS Delhi:
For Medical qualification: A candidate with an MBBS/BDS with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch. in the subject concerned or a Diplomat of the National Board of Examination. Candidates who have obtained any of these degrees from medical colleges that are not recognized by the Medical Council of India shall not be eligible to apply.
For Nursing Qualification: A candidate having an M.Sc. degree with a minimum 55% aggregate marks in Nursing Speciality will also be eligible for PhD admission in the College of Nursing.
For Non-Medical categories: A candidate must hold a master's degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks only in the subjects listed against each seat in the respective Departments in the Prospectus.
However, special weightage will be given to the candidates who have qualified the Joint CSIR-UGC, NET for JRF, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, and NBHM screening test.
The PhD programmes are offered across a wide range of departments, including Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics. The programmes are designed to promote advanced research and academic excellence across technical disciplines.
AIIMS Delhi PhD Selection Criteria
The selection to PhD at AIIMS Delhi is conducted in three stages:
Stage 1: Candidates have to qualify for an Aptitude Test
Stage 2: Applicant's subject knowledge will be checked
Stage 3: After completion of stages 1 & 2, candidates will be called for departmental clinical/practical/laboratory-based assessment
