New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched the 'Young Achievers’ Scholarship and Holistic Academic Skills Venture Initiative (YASHASVI) scheme 2024' on June 7, 2024. The scheme will be available for students enrolled in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering (CCEEM) degrees.

The YASHASVI scheme has been launched by AICTE Chairman, Prof. T.G. Sitharam. The event was also attended by vice chairman Abhay Jere and member secretary Rajive Kumar. “During the launch, Professor Sitharam emphasised the scheme’s goal of promoting core engineering branches, highlighting their pivotal role in the growth of manufacturing industries,” as per a press release from the AICTE.

He said, “The YASHASVI initiative is designed to support meritorious students pursuing technical education in core branches of engineering. This scholarship aims to encourage talented students to enroll in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering programs at AICTE approved technical institutions.”

Prof. Rajendra Kakde, Advisor to the AICTE Chairman, said, "Each year, this scholarship will benefit 5,000 students, with 2,500 scholarships for degree students and 2,500 for diploma students. Degree students will get Rs 18,000 per year for up to four years, while diploma students will get Rs 12,000 per year for up to three years. The scholarships will be paid directly to students through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)."

On the selection process, Prof. Kakde explained, "The scholarship is based on merit. Degree students are selected based on their 12th-grade marks, and diploma students are selected based on their 10th-grade marks. To renew the scholarship each year, students must submit their passing certificate/mark sheet and a letter from their Institution Head. Applications for the YASHASVI scholarship will be invited once a year. Eligible students need to apply online on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after the application process starts."

What is the YASHASVI Scheme?

The YASHASVI scheme will benefit 5,000 students annually, with 2,500 scholarships for degree students and 2,500 for diploma students. Degree students will receive Rs 18,000 per year for up to four years, while diploma students will receive Rs 12,000 per year for up to three years. Scholarships will be disbursed directly via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), as stated by AICTE.

Applications for the YASHASVI scholarship will be invited once a year. Eligible candidates are required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after initiation of application process.

Who are Eligible for YASHASVI Scheme?

Eligibility for the YASHASVI scholarship is merit-based. Degree-level students are selected based on their 12th grade qualifications, while diploma-level students are chosen based on their 10th grade results.
