Maastricht University Application Deadlines 2026 to 2027

Maastricht University uses Studielink (application fee: EUR 100 | INR 10,704) as its central application portal, with secondary document uploads through the UM Application portal. Master’s programmes run rolling admissions for most non-EU applicants, while bachelor’s programmes use fixed annual deadlines.

Planning note: The 1 July 2026 visa cutoff is a hard rule. Applicants who need an MVV residence permit cannot start in September 2026 if their file is not closed by that date. UM submits the visa request to the Dutch immigration service on your behalf.

Maastricht University Eligibility for Indian Students

Maastricht University uses an access-oriented model, meaning most applicants who clear the published academic and language thresholds are admitted unless a programme is "fixus" (selective with a fixed seat cap). The institutional minimums below apply across nearly every faculty, with programme-specific upgrades for SBE and FSE. 

Bachelor’s Eligibility at Maastricht University

• Class XII certificate: from CBSE, ICSE, IB, or a recognised state board
• Minimum aggregate: around 70-75% overall, selective programmes ask 75% or higher
• Subject prerequisites: Mathematics studied through Class XII for Data Science, AI, and Economics tracks
• English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 overall, TOEFL iBT 90, or Cambridge B2 First grade C or above

Do Maastricht Master’s Require a Specific Bachelor’s?

Most master’s programmes ask for a three or four-year bachelor’s at 60% or higher in a related field. SBE and FSE tracks add named prerequisite courses (statistics, microeconomics, linear algebra, or programming proof) that you must show on your transcript. International Business and Economics master’s require IELTS writing 6.5, not the standard 6.0 sub-band.

Maastricht University Master’s Programs and Tuition

Maastricht runs over 70 master’s programmes across six faculties: Business and Economics, Health and Life Sciences, Arts and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, Law, and Psychology and Neuroscience. Most are 12-month MSc tracks. Research master’s and clinical tracks run 24 months. Indian intake is heaviest in SBE and FSE.

Base tuition for non-EU master’s students starts at EUR 16,600 (around INR 17.77 Lakhs) per year. Top-tier programmes such as Artificial Intelligence and Health Sciences run to EUR 25,000 (around INR 26.76 Lakhs). The detailed course-wise fees breakdown lists each programme’s annual fee.

Maastricht University Bachelor’s Programs and Tuition

Maastricht offers about 27 bachelor’s programmes, almost all taught in English for international applicants and run on the Problem-Based Learning method. Most are three-year BSc or BA tracks. University College Maastricht (UCM) and Maastricht Science Programme (MSP) are liberal arts and sciences tracks with small-scale intensive teaching.

Base tuition for non-EU bachelor’s students is EUR 13,200 (around INR 14.13 Lakhs) per year for standard programmes. UCM and MSP run higher at EUR 20,109 (around INR 21.52 Lakhs) due to the BKKI small-scale intensive teaching surcharge.

Maastricht University Admission Decisions Timeline

Most Maastricht offers land within 2 to 4 weeks of the application file being marked complete on UM Application. Selective programmes (UCM, MSP, MSc AI) run an additional interview or selection-day round, which adds 4 to 6 weeks to the timeline. SBE master’s interviews are typically conducted online for Indian applicants.

• Offer letter: emailed through the UM Application as conditional or unconditional
• Conditional offer: usually pending final transcript or pending IELTS score upload
• Acceptance window: two weeks to accept, otherwise the offer lapses
• Deferral policy: generally permitted once for medical or visa reasons, on written request to admissions

Maastricht University Documents Required

Each item below is uploaded to the UM Application as a clear PDF after the Studielink submission. Originals or certified copies are checked at enrolment, but the admissions decision is made on uploaded scans alone.

• Passport copy: bio-data page, valid for at least six months past programme start
• Class XII certificate: for bachelor’s applicants, mark sheet plus provisional certificate
• Bachelor’s transcript: for master’s applicants, all semesters plus degree certificate or pending letter
• English test score report: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or Cambridge with electronic verification to UM
• Motivation letter: 500 to 1,000 words, answering programme-specific prompts
• Curriculum vitae: Europass or standard format, dates verified
• Reference letters: one or two from professors or employers, on institutional letterhead
• Programme-specific items: SBE writing sample, UCM essay, AI coding test, MSP science portfolio

Before you apply: Maastricht does not accept WES or other US-style credential evaluations for Indian degrees. The admissions team evaluates Class XII and bachelor’s marks directly against Dutch grading scales.

Maastricht University Acceptance Rate

Maastricht University does not publish an institutional acceptance rate. Third-party admissions data places the overall figure at around 50 to 55%, with broad variance across faculties. Open-access master’s such as European Studies admit most qualified candidates, while selective fixus tracks (AI, UCM, MSP) reject more applicants than they accept.

Which Maastricht University Programmes Are Selective?

Selective "fixus" tracks publish a fixed seat cap each year. UCM, MSP, BSc Data Science and AI, and MSc AI all run formal selection days or coding and writing tests in addition to the standard application file. These programmes use a Dutch national 15 January deadline for the September start.
