National University of Ireland, Galway Reviews

- The Campus, it has lovely walking and cycling tracks
- The Laboratory infrastructures (well established Molecular Research Lab)
- The Canteen next to corrib river (It is very great place to have a pizza; something very famous of the canteen, you can enjoy stunning views of the corrib river and occasionally you may meet swans.
Dislikes
- You have to walk alot. The campus is too big when you are not in a mood for a stroll. very less means to travel quickly from one side to others.
- The Campus does not have many navigators to guide you to your destination buidling.
- Despite being approachable It can get tricky and frustrating sometimes to navigate from one administrator to the other just to get approval (for example it took me 3 member approval to enter the molecular lab).
Campus Life
- Only one campus in Galway.
- The facilities include a complete gym, swimming pool, Library, Restaurant, campus student residents, and Medical building with 24/7 pharmacy and emergency services.
- I am unaware of the major festivals on campus, as during my time not many happened.
- The student organisations do meetups every quarter; there is a boat club and swimming club at the university.
- The picture attached below is the view of the Galway Cathedral from the campus restaurant and the body of water below is the corrib river
Fees
- I paid a total of 20750 euros for one year of the course. This does not include hostel fees.
- On-campus hostels were around 700-1100 Euros depending on the room and sharing basis you opted for.
- The fees are charged as per programme; for my programme, the fees were to be paid upfront. However, my friends in biomedical have also had the chance to do Semester wise payments.
- Very conservatively, if you manage your expenses, you can do very well, easily 300-500 Euros a month and It can go to about 700-1000 euros if you want a bit of a lavish lifestyle. The rent I paid for 1 room in a 5-bedroom independent house within walkable distance from the university was 450 euros a month, plus electricity and heating oil (for house heating). I used to move around the city on a Bicycle or by walking, as everything I required was within walking distance. Groceries were about 100-200 euros with Indian food store purchases.
Likes
- It is an old reputed college with a great world ranking
- It has great academic staff, experienced faculty
- Has great infrastructure and facilites within the campus
Dislikes
- There are too many home assignments and inadequate classroom teaching
- Course fee is too high in respect to skills that were taught
- Less innovation and bit outdated curriculum for my course
Campus Life
- As far as I know there are two campuses (one main campus and another for hotel management in Shannon). Within the main campus, there are different buildings for each department (like business, law, medicine, engineering, arts, etc.).
- The university has a big library with ample seating spaces. Sports facilities are also nice; it has open and closed arenas available for different sports, and it also has a great swimming pool. Everything is paid and needs to be booked in advance.
- There are various fest and clubs available that can cater to various interests of students but one of the biggest fest is Galway International Arts Festival which hosts different musicians, artists, theatre, etc.
- There are some cool clubs like rowing, hurling, swimming, student councils, campus ambassadors, etc. One can participate as per their interests and can get more visibility and increased networking amongst their peers.
Fees
- I was in session 2021-22 and my tuition fee was 18,000 Euros in total which was paid in two parts. Half was paid to register for a seat in college, as it is required to get a visa. Another half installment was to be paid within 3 months after the start of the session.
- Other than tuition fees, there was an expenditure of around 1000 Euros per month for accommodation, food and other utilities. Of this 1000 euros, around 500-700 euros might go to rent, 200 euros in food and 100 euros to any other expense.

The MS course provided is highly respected and the course structure is aligned with the required needs of the market. Fees
17300 is the program fee.
Overview
I came across Ireland because of English speaking nation that provide advantage of courses being offered in English. The cost of education is lower for Indian students in Ireland than many other international destinations, another advantage is that we can choose to stay back for two years after completing the course. The course duration for masters is also one year. NUIG serve as a perfect platform for me to gain skills and develop my personality for various reasons like repute of the institution, up-to-date curriculum, global exposure, diversified peer group, learned faculty, good infrastructure and resources, accomplished alumni record and career opportunities. NUIG also ranked 238th in the world’s top 1,000 institutions.
