- The consecutive Master’s degree programme in sociology provides high-level, professional training in sociology which complies with international standards. The course requires that a previous social-scientific degree programme has been successfully completed.
- The Master’s degree programme focusses on the sociological analysis of institutions, as informed by theory and methodological practice. In addition to the general course of studies which is mandatory for all students, students may also specialise or choose an area on which to focus their studies.
- Depending on the current research being carried out at the Max Weber Institute for Sociology, students might focus on the fundamental theory and methods of scientific research. Alternatively, they might specialise in sociological aspects of organisational development, or on the sociological development of human resources, with a focus on the profit or the non-profit sector.
- There are special requirements for a specialisation in ‘sociological organisational development’ and ‘sociological development of human resources’ (§21 of the new examination rules and regulations).
