History is concerned with the historical change in society, the economy, politics, and culture. As historical change took place in the past and hence cannot be experienced directly, studies in history approach their topics via the methodical and theoretically reflected analysis of available sources. The objective of historical research is to arrive at "true" statements concerning past events and to inquire into the determinants which govern such statements.
